what is chalk training?

 

Chalk Training is a small group, semi-private and personal training studio based in the heart of Westlake in Austin, TX with a strong fitness community. 

We offer an all-inclusive program for all levels consisting of training, nutrition, and accountability, and we believe that you need all three to achieve your fitness goals. Whether you are looking for a fitness community to call home or a more individualized program with big goals, we have options for you and would love to have the opportunity to coach you.

In our indoor sessions, we focus on:

  1. Strength Training for building muscle and burning body fat

  2. Functional Range Conditioning for joint health and mobility

  3. Conditioning for a healthy heart and lungs

Our indoor sessions are built for all levels utilizing bodyweight, kettlebells, dumbbells, and if appropriate, barbells and more technical training exercises. We combine our strength training exercises with Functional Range Conditioning so you have the best of both worlds with strength and mobility.

We believe it is important to be strong, mobile, and fit to live your healthiest life and never be held back by the things in life that you want to experience… like playing with your kids, hiking with friends, putting your suitcase in the overhead bin, or being able to walk up a flight of stairs without being completely out of breath. 

To achieve your goals it is necessary to have:

  1. An appropriate training plan for your fitness level

  2. A plan that you enjoy (maybe even look forward to!)

  3. A plan that ACTUALLY gets you results. Otherwise, how do you stay motivated to keep going? 

That’s why we have options for you. From personal training, to semi-private, small group and outdoor sessions, we can find the right program that fits your fitness level, budget and goals.

We offer the following training modalities:

  • Private Training (1 to 1 coaching)

  • Semi-Private Training (1 to 4 coaching)

  • Small Group Training (1 to 8 coaching)

  • Outdoor Training (the huffy puffy stuff)

Meet The TEAM

 

Crystal Heinatz - OWNER & HEAD COACH

 

Coach Crystal has been in the fitness industry since 2005 and has been an athlete her entire life. She has a passion for helping others to be the healthiest versions of themselves through movement, nutrition and community. Crystal is a retired CrossFit Games athlete, but still loves lifting heavy weights and pushing herself to new levels, physically and mentally. When not at the gym she can be found hiking, spending time with her dogs and cats, horseback riding, or trying a new restaurant in town.

 

MARY DE’SCACCHI - ASSISTANT GYM MANAGER & INDOOR COACH

Coach Mary’s passion since she began coaching in 2010 is to help her clients technically move well when lifting weights, get stronger and stay active. Her passion in the gym is anything with a barbell, including Olympic lifting. Daily you will find her throwing weights around, playing tennis, hanging with her 4 legged besties, or planning her next trip.

 

RICHIE GRIFFIN - INDOOR AND OUTDOOR COACH

In 2010 Coach Richie left his job in marketing to further pursue a career in the fitness industry. He started his coaching journey running bootcamps and personal training and eventually found himself in a CrossFit gym. In 2021 he joined the Chalk team and has been here ever since. Being able to help people become better is what motivates him to do what he does and he loves it!!

HANNAH BAROSH - INDOOR AND OUTDOOR COACH

Coach Hannah has always been passionate about fitness, as she has been an athlete as long as she can remember. She played 5 years of indoor and beach volleyball in college before wrapping up in 2022. She began her career by working in physical therapy for a few years before finding her passion in coaching. Outside the gym, Hannah enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, reading, or hanging out with her boyfriend and little pug Tito.

SHAYNE CEREBE - INDOOR, OUTDOOR AND NUTRITION COACH

Coach Shayne has been teaching and training in Austin since 2020 and started at CHALK in December 23'. Shayne specializes in strength training, nutrition coaching, yoga & Pilates. She leads various fitness events in Austin and loves doing handstands and playing volleyball in her free time.
